Virtual Program at Seahurst

At least 70% of student learning time is synchronous/live instruction on Zoom. Regular attendance and active participation during scheduled Zoom instruction is expected. 

Up to 30% of the school day is asynchronous/independent learning time. Teachers provide lessons for students to complete during the asynchronous/independent learning time. Families may need to support their students with completing asynchronous assignments.

Students and families will have opportunities to participate in in-person activities, including family events, on our campus throughout the school year to help build community and relationships.

Students are taught using instructional materials adopted by Highline, and instruction is provided by Highline staff.  We  provide Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, as well as instruction in Race and Identity and Social-emotional learning. Students participate in PE, Music/Art and Library/Digital Media Literacy activities.

The program serves students who qualify for English language learning services and Highly Capable Learning Plans. Special education services and programming is considered on a case-by-case basis. Our team will work with families to discuss options and develop plans based on students’ Individualized Education Plans.

Family partnerships are valued and important to the success of our program. Family meetings with teachers and school staff is scheduled throughout the school year. Regular communication with the teacher is essential.

Laptops and chargers are provided from Highline Public Schools. Hotspots are available upon request. Learning kits to support online learning are provided by the school and need to be picked up by families

• We will provide standards-based instruction to support student’s academic and social-emotional learning growth.
• We will monitor progress and provide interventions and extensions accordingly.
• We will communicate and partner with families about student’s progress and goals on a regular basis.
• We will provide strategies for families to assist students with meeting their learning goals.
• We will provide devices and learning kits to support online instruction.
• We will provide opportunities for in person events to support learning and relationship building.

• I will help my child set up a workspace where my child can access learning materials and is free from distractions.
• I will support my child with attendance to their Zoom lessons and will contact the office if my child is absent.
• I understand that my child may need help navigating Zoom and lessons, especially the first few days.
• I will support my child with reading for 30 minutes daily and completing their weekly asynchronous choice time activities.
• I will pick up materials to support online learning throughout the school year (monthly).
• I will communicate and partner with teachers and the school on a regular basis.
• I will use ParentVUE to update contact information and check my student’s grades and attendance.

• I will follow our school/class expectations.
• I will properly care for technology and learning materials from school.
• I will discuss my learning goals and what I am learning with my family.
• I will actively participate in daily Zoom lessons with my camera on.
• I will complete assignments including: Seesaw “Must Do” Assignments 45 minutes of iReady reading per week, at least one lesson 45 minutes of iReady math per week, at least one lesson 30 minutes of reading every day.
